YOGA

I’ve been practicing yoga a long time. I completed my 200 hour vinyasa yoga teacher training with Caroline Layzell at Serenity Yoga on Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia in January 2017. Since then I have also completed 50 hour yin yoga teacher training with Hugh Lee at Yoga 213 in Melbourne in July 2018, and further training in Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics with Duncan Peak and the Power Living crew in Keramas, Indonesia in November 2019.

I have taught in Central Victoria and North East Victoria to groups as diverse as high performance athletes, people in addiction recovery, experienced yogis and exercise newbies. For me, yoga is a great opportunity to mix movement with mindfulness, a sense of ritual, good tunes, and time with great people - and a great way to get out of your head and into your body by exploring movement and breath.

Yoga styles

Expect good vibes, great tunes, and to feel just a little sore the next day (no matter the class). Mats, props and giggles are supplied. Bring a positive attitude and leave with a spring in your step.

Vinyasa is an active, energetic and flowing yoga practice. Movements are linked with breath in a moving meditation that helps you return to your body and find your rhythm. The dynamic movements bring blood to the muscles and balance to your mind. Each sequence and pose can be modified to challenge or accommodate, depending on experience or injury. Whether you’re after a stretch, a workout or a ritual vinyasa could be what you’re craving…

Flow + Stretch blending elements of yoga theory with tao and chinese medicine, this class is the perfect combination of the flowing dynamic style of a vinyasa class, finished with the long holds and deep stretching we love in a yin class. This class helps you to get the blood pumping, while still allowing time and space for calm and stillness. Opportunities for new yogis to get to know their way around the mat, with plenty of challenges for experienced yogis.

Slow Flow mixes the rhythms of vinyasa with a gradual pace and a few deep, juicy stretches. With a little bit more time to focus on technique and alignment these sessions are perfect for beginner yogis and great for those looking to go deeper. We build on simple poses to add complexity and speed in a way that connects you with your body. After a crescendo of energy, we settle in to a nice cool down and some dedicated rest time.

Yin is a gentler practice with long holds and deep stretches and is the perfect counterpoint to our frantic days. Based on the principles of traditional chinese medicine, Yin works on the connective tissue, organs and glands. We use props and prompts so that you can sit close to discomfort for just long enough to relieve it. Every pose can be tweaked to ensure you’re getting maximum benefit so you’ll leave feeling a shift you didn’t know you needed…

OCCASIONAL RETREATS

Before COVID-19 disrupted many a grand plan, I was delighted to host some wonderful folks for a weekend of excellent food, rest and movement on the banks of the Murray River.

This is what one attendee thought of our October 2019 Retreat:

You wouldn't think it was possible to relax so deeply and feel so nourished after just one weekend away, but that's exactly how I felt after this retreat. The perfect amount of 'doing' and 'being', of activities and down time - all enjoyed in the most stunning surrounds that connect you back to nature, yourself and your community. Lara created the most wonderful atmosphere, designed a program with love and care, and made us all feel supported and nourished. An incredible investment.
